Sustainability at Orthex
Orthex aims to be the industry forerunner in sustainability by promoting high-quality, safe and long-lasting products with timeless design, reducing the carbon footprint of its operations and products and sourcing an ever increasing amount of raw materials from bio-based and recycled materials.
Orthex believes that responsibly produced, durable plastic products have an important role in a sustainable economy. In Orthex’s view, plastics have many advantages over alternative materials as, for instance, plastic products allow for long-lasting food storage and efficient transport. Orthex believes that qualities such as lightness, durability and easy moldability, make plastic an attractive and sustainable material. Orthex also believes that the carbon footprint of plastic products is usually smaller than the same of a product made of a different material, such as glass or metal.
Orthex’s sustainable choices build on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Orthex has identified four SDGs to which it can make the most significant contribution:
- Decent Work and Economic Growth,
- Industry Innovation and Infrastructure,
- Responsible Consumption and Production and
- Climate Action.
Orthex pursues these SDGs by promoting economic, environmental, and social sustainability. Orthex reviews its sustainability strategy annually and sets itself targets and key performance indicators for three-year periods. Orthex’s sustainability report, which details Orthex’s sustainability targets, achievements, and efforts, is published annually. Learn more about Orthex’s sustainability efforts.
